[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_custom_heading]Sár Hill – Mandula nature trail[/vc_custom_heading][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]The southern offset of the Mátra Mountains has been declared to be protected due to its unique flora abundant in botanical rarities that remained above the vines as well as its butterfly fauna. Located to the south of the massif, the biogeographical significance of the hill with its volcanic bedrock lies in the fact that it is open from the side of the Great Plain, so the forest steppe vegetation of the Great Plain climbs up the southern hillsides, and it is mixed with the mountainous elements here and there. Some of the plants of the Great Plain today survived the climate of the ice age on these southern slopes, and they spread over the plain from here. On the 7-km-long nature trail between Mátrafüred and Gyöngyös (yellow lane signal), there are 14 information panels, with the help of which we can get to know the vegetation of, among others, the meadow steppe, the dwarf almond trees and the rupestrian grasslands. It is suggested to take a rest at the charming Saint Anna Lake halfway.
